I don't know this pub but I'll point out that when a place is closed due to crime, the police do give the owners warning that it's a hotspot. The owners of the Dolphin will have known this and done absolutely nothing about it if it has now ended up being closed down.
Well, they made the huge leap forward of putting a load of signs up saying that there are thieves in operation and that you should put your coats/bags in the cloakroom. What more can they do!?

I like the Dolphin. That would be sad.
Quite the pilgrimage from Ealing!

I wouldn't really call the place a crime hotspot, it keeps serving till 4:30am at weekends so people just end up hammered there and leave coats and bags on chairs and forget them. Not sure how/why these "incidents" are reported to the police.

I don't know the place at all but 10 security guards (by their own admission) for a pub is quite telling by itself. I worked as a doorman on nightclubs with less guys than that.
It is sort of a club, though.

That makes more sense. I'm picturing it like the big O'Niels in Leytonstone now. Is that fair?

Not quite, it's not that big, it's just a bit of a dodgy boozer, nights there tend to come in two flavours in my experience - either the 'I feel vaguely threatened' or 'best night EVAR'.

Err no it isn't. It's absolutely rammed on Fridays and Saturdays with all sort of people. They have a club night there and it certainly doesn't attract the 'old men' crowd. It's fucking horrible there, always too hot and crowded, a total meat market and the only reason anyone I know goes there is because its close to where they live and open late. I'd be bloody happy of it closed down, good fucking riddance.

Christ I really hope they close that shithole down. Too crowded, crappy dancefloor, robberies, a meat market and just a right shitty pub at that. The only reason people go there is because its open late and close to where they live. Lame.
