I went to Cafe Oto to a gig once. almost had a heart attack at the price of the beer.

Who was on? (and fair enough I concur about the beer, however it is all hand woven by elves or something fwiw)

Some lager or other, nothing v special. Ordered two pints, got change back, said er that was a twenty, guy said yeah, it's £5.80 a pint... And that was a couple of years ago too.

Eta You mean musicwise? Laetitia Sadier.

Yeah I meant the music - I bet that was a fantastic gig!

The stuff I sip there is so frantically strong that it only makes sense to drink halves. Which perhaps marks me out as a hipster-ponce but there it is.

Going along there later on for a paperback launch...

Used to live in Dalston roughly 5 years ago. Went to a good caff & a decent pub. Went through again in recent times & the pub has been knocked down for the railway but the caff was still there.

THat's a lot but tbf the big venues will charge you about that for a Carling or something similar.

Yeah, the gig was good if soberer than it might've been otherwise...

First and only time I've paid above a fiver a pint. plus it's a small, non-central London venue ffs...

It is small and I consider your p(o)int.

For me it's fantastic to be able to see The Arkestra someplace small and local for 12 quid instead of at The Barbican for 25.

Expensive beers are a pain, however they are elective (and ok I rather like some of them...)

what did she do? all solo stuff or does she drop a few stereolab classics too? she's playing my local next month, rather looking forward to it...
