It was stolen on Sunday the 22nd between 12.30 and 3pm close to Covent Garden, or more specifically immediately off the junction of Charing Cross Road plus Shaftesbury Avenue. It's not worth much, except to me. I will offer a awfully generous reward to anybody who finds it, primarily in the form of beer.

Keep an eye out on Craigslist. There's a pretty extreme turnover, and that's rather a distinctive colour. You may get lucky.

I'm sorry to hear about this. For future reference, what tactics would they have used to pinch your cycle at this time and in this place?

They stole my bike when I was living in the Mile End area, I went headed for the Brick Lane market on the Sunday following it was stolen and found it!!! Had an argument with the vendor which settled to it back for a 30 quid fee Not optimal except I really wanted it back.

Maybe it's worth a try? Good luck nonetheless.

Shit, that's what I intended to write. I presume they're both good for this though.

One further note - if it's a speciality bike (custom, worth a lot, distinctive in terms of parts etc.) then take a glance on London Fixed Gear Forums. They can be a bit supercilious if it's just a poor quality beater (made by Create or whatever), but they'er nonetheless pretty good at keeping an eye out, as they're out on their bikes each day. I've seen some bikes found by means of there.

Definitely worth a try. Check Brick Lane market, gumtree, ebay.

Do you have any evidence that it's positively yours? If so, and you see it on Brick Lane, phone the Police and try and acquire their help. They have a cycle task force so may be worth looking that up then see if you can chat to them directly.

Also worth getting a improved lock to lessen the chance of it happening again.
