Hurwendeki on Cambridge Heath road does £9 haircuts for men. in addition the coffee there is great.
I had my most recent cut there funnily enough as an experiment. I feel it's a better decision for men. I have relatively thick hair and the poor guy struggled to give me a prune in 19 mins!

Why not check out a hair dressing school like this they are constantly looking for people to work on
Not a bad shout: I'll look into it. Cheers!

I've resigned myself to getting cuts in the City for £25 a time... I tell myself it's worth it as they have nice furnishings and you don't have to linger 45 mins for a stack of chavs to get their heads shaved, but still...
This made me laugh : )

I go to Edward Holland in Spitalfields. It's not especially low-cost (£22 for a cut), except they don't take ages and it's not super trendy. Guy who usually cuts my pelt is an older fella with an impressive assortment of ties.

Edit: Just realised you're a girl. There's a woman's hair salon near too, but I have no impression what it's like.

I'll check it out. Thanks!

Henry & Sons, outside the doorway of New Cross station. £12 for a spot on cut, with a razor on the neck, backed up by talc. Your man is brilliant.
I am a 30 year old female...and razor blades scare me.

Haha I'm so sorry. Hadn't re-read your post as a consequence I now feel stupid.

EDIT: http://www.gumtree.com/search?q=haircut&search_location=London&category=all - Try Gumtree.

It's certainly a better option for men (depending on who is cutting your hair that is). If you get the owner to cut your hair, he does quite well. I also have quite thick hair and he didn't have a problem.

It's a pretty respectable way of getting a gratis haircut. Plenty of top salons (So those above your normal Toni & Guy outfits) ask for 'models' to judge potential new employees. So you won't tend to have a student hairdresser, and as an alternative you'll have somebody at the end of their employment process, past the CV and interview stage, with heaps of experience.

The wider uncertainty here is why there is such a enormous disproportion involving prices for m/f cuts...if 2 people of opposed sexes but of equal hair-length walk into somewhere like, say super cuts (cheap..quick n dirty chain, no appts, etc), or any other haircutting establishment for that matter, the default price for women is in many cases almost twofold that of men..regardless of length/style/equipment used etc..how is this possible, and why do people put up with it??
