You ought to be made aware that the great sky dragon of Queen Elizabeth I resides near and that the howling from its imprisonment under Bunhill Fields is likely to keep you up at night.

Oh dear, now i must initiate negotiations with the agency about being paid my deposit back. Is it okay to end a lease before I move in?

I Lived around Old Street for a good few years, hope you're not living in apartments for the reason that the area is completely over run by french/australian students and the party constantly.

So yeah, Friday/Saturday nighttime can suck (saturday in particular when the out of towners come up from essex and wherever and wreck the place). It's a fantastic neighbourhood mid week though.

Good spaces to eat:

Cheap:

Viet Grill, Song Que, Keu, Loco Mojito, Cafe Journal (£5 pizza really nice), Strongrooms, Gormet San, Byron,

More Pricey:

Rivington Grill, Les Trois Garcons, Hawksmoor

Bars to steer clear of like the plague:

Bluu, Big Chill, Book Club, Light Bar

Don't bother with Shoreditch House, it's cunt central also full of suits and children at the weekend.

Hah, I thought the Book Club was okay, only been there for lunch though. It's a tad hipsterville, but so's all over around there.

Thanks for the list meatfest. I did check out the Viet Grill one sunny afternoon while house hunting, and i'll have to concur with you on the food and price.

How about for live music? I quite enjoy the grunge of the Roadtrip and Workshop downstairs so far, and that perhaps makes me a minority, but you see where i'm coming from.

For live music, if you like grunge / rock / indie music then try the Lexington which is just past Angel on the street to Kings Cross, the Old Queen's Head on Essex Road, Islington, the Shacklewell Arms in Hackney. 93feeteast on Brick Lane occasionally has some good bands playing, except beware, it attracts a clear type of crowd!

Also - check the Haggerston in Hackney out on a Sunday night, the live jazz is brilliant! Oh and just for a pub, try the Island Queen which is along some back streets inbetween Angel and Old Street, or the Charles Lamb.

Welcome to the neighbourhood!

Ahh times I've been the beer choice was junk and the downstairs had a huge painting that just said CANCER on it.

Ahh I usually only go if it's a band I know on stage but the majority of the time I've been to hoxton bar grill, cafe oto, catch, the macbeth, cargo, old blue last.

Oh also a good tip is for Indian food, forget brick lane and head up Kingsland Curries on Kingsland Road. Looks crap however it's in fact excellent.

for Turkish, Tas Firin on Bethnal Green is alright or in Stoke Newington Mangal 2 and 2000 Ocakbasi are both excellent. Get Lahmacun if you've never had it before.

Burrito wise Flying Burrito is best

Best American pizza do above par quality pizzas and deliver until 2am/3am.

Also in the sunday upmarket check out the Okonomiyaki stall, it'll have a long line however it's worth it.
