I'm a poor UCL undergraduate trying to write his first novel, and I find it unmanageable to concentrate at home.

Does anybody know anyplace in Islington, or in close proximity to Caledonian Road in which I can sit down for long periods of time, perhaps with the cheapest coffee. Wi-fi not necessary.

Goswell Coffee down Goswell Road have free wifi and good low-cost coffee, it's a public site but very often has a number of people in there who I expect are trying to work in a somewhat relaxed atmosphere.

Assuming you are in actual Islington as opposed to the edges which call themselves Islington to sound posh - you are only a few minutes walk from the British Library.

Second Senate House Library. Last I was there (during exam time) they had notices for the booths/alcoves which you can rent for £10. A tiny little space all to yourself, sounds very peaceful. I might do it for myself if it's still on.

Although at £225 per year membership if you are a member of the public - I would perhaps stump up a little more then go for the London Library instead.

Hi. I was just asking in the other thread concerning Finsbury Park. Is it considered lower in class as compared to Islington?
