I've been trying to uncover a decent gym in or around Bethnal Green. I'm a member of York Hall and, to be frank, I'm sick of it. It's continually rammed, it's a disaster and jesus is it hot.

I've checked out Muscle Works (way too bodybuilder - like), fitness4less (I want a gym, not a nightclub) and that's all I can find in a walk from the Tube. Does anybody have any other ideas?

thanks!!

If you fancy it, Crossfit London is right by the park, I've been a couple of times, pretty vigorous work!

Best of luck! My condition is a little low for it (something I'm trying to fix!), and I'll just do myself a damage, so am holding off it for now and sticking to running on the canal.

They do weight work too (squats/snatches/lots of bulk weight stuff), give it a whirl, I've known folks get foolishly cut up on the back of it!

Oh, just remembered, I don't know how close it is to you, however Queen Mary uni has a sports club that us mortals can use? And a squash court too (although I've not tried that yet) apparently.

yeah I've spoken to those who've completed a session and it sounds mental! Not definite how long I'd be able to keep it up nevertheless so I think my hunt for a gym will continue! :)

I second this. I went there while I was visiting London and loved it. Don't be troubled regarding not keeping up. Newcomers don't have to go as intense. It's just system at first.

soho gym (50£) is nice.

Reiterating what you said - fitness4less is the same - permanently rammed, a mess, also hot. I try and go in the mornings as it is quieter, or the weekends. After hours is a joke except you go at like 9:30pm, and it closes at 10.

To put in something - there's a 400m track and a number of pieces of apparatus in Victoria Park - chin up bars, dip bars etc, I see a few folks creating some pretty intense workouts there with sprints plus exercises, and it's free of course.
