The substitute is 100 metres or so away and will be excellent. It's not like they're getting clear of it and parting you all with nothing.

Why?

They are just moving it. Skateboards have wheels do they not?

Aren't they planning to move it to Hungerford bridge, not just do away with it entirely?
Yes. I've spoken to the skaters there and they say that the current spot (which was firstly just a deserted area) is genuinely just the thing for a certain type of street skating. The substitution is unlikely to be the same. moreover the replacement will likely not have the same link to the passing tourists. I've looked at where it will be and it looks like it will be more off the beaten track and in a more 'intimidating' position. Basically, it's much less apt to appeal to youngsters looking for a safe position to skate or passersby stopping to watch.

You have to bear in mind that this is like the Wembley Stadium of skating. Skaters truly do come from other countries to skate in London and this is the first area they want to go. a lot of top skaters have skated there. I'm definite you would concur that knocking down the aged Wembley and replacing it was a contentious decision and many people thought that it wouldn't be the same. In this case it might work out improved however it might not, in this case I myself don't think it will for a few reasons.

-New place has less organic light -No view on the river -No passing tourists -As a answer of the first three points it will be a more threatening place for young people to skate. -The style of skating will be different. I can't genuinely explain this as I don't understand skating a sufficient amount although the new areas set up will most likely mean a dissimilar type of skating which clearly you wouldn't want if you've been skating at the Undercroft frequently for years.

Is it genuinely a I mean without doubt a big part of the attraction to skaters is that it is free and has a considerable passing audience?

I've never had a difficult with it being there, but things change and if it falls victim to rejuvenation then so be it. Your brotherhood can have the common objective of finding someplace else.

n1 m8. dose sk8 twats wont no wot it 'em. Anyway, who needs free, affirmative and social environments to enjoy their selected sport. Fuck them, tear it all down we want more Costa's and Nando's. Lets make London a little more lonely, lets ruin more of it's idiosyncratic landmarks. Heaven forbid a tourist might go hungry.
Do you know what they're going to organize with the site?
I'm pretty certain the design is to replace it with restaurants and cafes.

They are going to blueprint it specially for them in consultation with them. It will be fine, they genuinely have nothing to moan about. You can't halt the redevelopment of the whole space just for the reason that the skaters think they might not like the new gratis amenities as much as the old free facilities. By the time they do it all this existing lot will have grown out of it anyhow and spend their time in the pub instead.
