Colindale specifically, quite safe area apart from the detail that somebody got stabbed here the other day following the GTA launch... It's the only attack I've really heard happening/anything about in the papers in years here.

Goldsmiths student/New Cross local for the past 2 years here. in no way had any woe - obvious common sense things such as not flashing valuables and so on are the known however you should be fine. The space from the SU bar is negligible plus the route is along the main road which is more or less always constantly busy. You'll be fine! PS: sign up the Student Radio Station called Wired, its great!
