Which part of Holborn are you? Covent Garden or towards Chancery Lane?

If the latter, I can suggest the following:

  • representing burritos, try either Daddy Donkey by Leather Lane, or Adobo next to High Holborn. I actually favor the latter, though DD is awesome

  • There's an Itsu by Holborn station, I really like their salads as well as udon pots

  • There's a fantastic Vietnamese house called Banh Mi Bay on the corner of Grays Inn Road and Theobalds Road. Amazing baguettes to take away, and the sit-down chow looks grand too.

  • At the same crossroads, there's a pizza/pasta place called Malletti, definitely worth checking out.

  • For falafel/kebab wraps, check out King of Falafel at the very top of Leather Lane. I swear beside that place, am there every week. Equally, there's a new-ish place called Meal Deal further along Leather Lane that does good chicken wraps very cheaply.

I am so hungry right now, dammit.

Thanks for that. I'm nearer to Chancery Lane than Cov. NSound comparable a number of pretty good options though worth wandering down to so thanks!

Bring in your own lunch. Hey ho you've immediately made £100 a month!
Mentioned it in the selftext, I don't get to hang on to it :/

It's pretty much unworkable to get a meal for a fiver in the area, except if you're willing to splurge just a TINY bit of your own money, you can go to Seoul Bakery on St. Giles High St. (maybe 5-10 min walk from Holborn Stn, just south of Tottenham Court Road Stn)...you can get a range of Korean dishes for just about 6 quid. I like the beef bibimbap+kimchi+miso...and water to drink. Cheap, satisfying and delicious!
Might just treat myself every so often then :)

Wetherspoons beer + burger?
That'd get me into dreadful habits I'm sure...

Daddy Donkey every day all day. Used to operate in the area and am a enormous burrito fan, so I've tried them all (Freebird, Chilango, Benito's Hat plus about half a dozen others!) and DD is notwithstanding my favourite. There's also a cool little thai stall a few spaces down, as well as a Mediterranean salad spot that will give you a colossal mixed box of stuff for £4.50.

Didn't even know it was there so I welcome that. Do you run The Londonist blog btw?

Worth walking the length of Theobald's Road as well, there's a few little cafes and places that do fantastic food.

I'd recommend Wooly's, if you don't object vegetarian.
