I like The Walrus, it doesn't have a beer garden, but it doesn't appear to ever be too busy

No beer garden, except the Beer House in the station itself (down some steps) is surprisingly nice

Stage Door, The Windmill, Anchor and Hope for food, Rose and Crown is a bit grotty however has a big garden, Kings Arms
The food in the Kings Arms is alright too. There's another called Jacks which is passable near there too.
King's Arms is nice enough but packed generally evenings.
yeah, worth it. Roupell St is fantastic too, there's something about it.

I understood so but I haven't been there for ages so now I'm skeptical myself.

I first went there in 1967 as a young student. Was amazed to see pints of what I took to be cider already pre-poured and lined up on the bar so the customers could come in and gulp it down without too much delay. They were rigid drinking men and the pubs stopped up in the afternoon in those days.
