If you want a boxing gym and don't take offense travelling a little bit out of zone 1/2 there is the option of Islington Boxing Club which is pretty affordable.

Closest station is Archway which is 10 minutes from Euston on the Northern Line.

You pay £25 for a yearly membership then £6 per session. Each session is an hour and a half.

why don't you just sign up for a class and a gym membership at a local leisure centre, the next one to me is putney leisure centre and there's a pool, gym and a space where they have masses of classes, not sure which ones and how much they charge but yeah.. leisure centre would be my suggestion

take a crack at a bona fide gym: http://muscleworksgym.co.uk/ No frills, no pool, 45 quid a month, or PAYG for a fiver. Near Bethnal Green Station. You'll come out a healthier man on the other side. And I say man, because if you happen to be female, I'm sorry - but there are no changing rooms for you either.
No changing rooms?! £45 sounds like you're being done mate.

I'm a member of easygym (Oxford Street). They are low-cost (£19.99 /month with no contract) and all the apparatus is brand new as they only opened a few weeks ago.

Pros

  • Cheap, affordable, no contract
  • New equipment and heaps of machines

Cons

  • No swimming pool
  • style experience, they don't have a reception or front desk, you go in by entering a PIN code into a turnstile. The lockers don't have locks so you have to provide your own padlock, or buy one from their conveniently placed vending machines.
  • In the mens changing rooms there are only approximately 10 showers so at top periods you might have to wait...although I've not experienced that myself.
  • Can get hot at the machines next to the windows, stay away from those unless it's night time or cold outside

I'm not sure about classes as I'm not a classes guy, however there seemed to be quite a few scheduled, though I think you have to pay extra for them.

I've just signed up to easygym as it's literally along the road from where I work. I'm planning to go for the first time this lunchtime. I used to be signed up through work with fitness first, was paying £40+ a month for it though.

Marshall Street Leisure Centre. Just off Carnaby street, never horrifically busy, I pay 42.50pm (I think). BEAUTIFUL, huge, sandstone edged pool.

They sort out tonnes of classes too but have o familiarity with those organised activties

Thanks for this. I've been a member of just about each gym here and I didn't know about this place. I'm in that locale a lot too.

Easygym on Oxford Street is fantastic value for money. They boast the best weights room I've experienced in London so far.
How are they for squat racks?

I'm thinking of make it my lunchbreak gymnasium

I don't know really, I only use free weights. But you can get a day pass to check the place out.

I'm not sure but you can ask the workers for a tour. Just hang around the door and flag one down, request them to show you around
