I'm a member of easygym (Oxford Street). They are low-cost (£19.99 /month with no contract) and all the apparatus is brand new as they only opened a few weeks ago.

Pros

  • Cheap, affordable, no contract
  • New equipment and heaps of machines

Cons

  • No swimming pool
  • style experience, they don't have a reception or front desk, you go in by entering a PIN code into a turnstile. The lockers don't have locks so you have to provide your own padlock, or buy one from their conveniently placed vending machines.
  • In the mens changing rooms there are only approximately 10 showers so at top periods you might have to wait...although I've not experienced that myself.
  • Can get hot at the machines next to the windows, stay away from those unless it's night time or cold outside

I'm not sure about classes as I'm not a classes guy, however there seemed to be quite a few scheduled, though I think you have to pay extra for them.

Easygym on Oxford Street is fantastic value for money. They boast the best weights room I've experienced in London so far.
How are they for squat racks?

I'm thinking of make it my lunchbreak gymnasium

I don't know really, I only use free weights. But you can get a day pass to check the place out.

Squats are a free weight exercise...

To answer your question, I don't know since I rarely use squat racks.

take a crack at a bona fide gym: http://muscleworksgym.co.uk/ No frills, no pool, 45 quid a month, or PAYG for a fiver. Near Bethnal Green Station. You'll come out a healthier man on the other side. And I say man, because if you happen to be female, I'm sorry - but there are no changing rooms for you either.
No changing rooms?! £45 sounds like you're being done mate.
There are changing rooms as well as showers and a sauna (free of use) - but only for men. It's a emphatically male gym and I've never seen a female in there.

Oh sorry, I'd barely woken up and didn't read it properly.

i'm with 'The Gym', which is one of the mroe well-liked budget sports club franchises that have popped up pretty recently.

usually 15ish quid a month, 20 is max but with that you can use any branch in teh UK (of which quite a few are in London) with no contract and if you necessitate it, a bunch of them are 24 hours.

ton of machines, all new, decent changing rooms, etc

admin is all done online too, http://www.thegymgroup.com/

I trust you'll share some report about online endorsement soon. I'm dealing with the https://www.actwitty.com/technology/an-electronic-signature-as-a-quick-and-secure-way-to-verify-your-identity/, so I need to know however many insights concerning this as would be prudent..
