Muswell Hill - and I don't think I'll ever go away (while I'm in London, and can pay for it)

Good:

  • Bus links are amazing and the majority of them are 24 hours
  • very safe area. Been here since February and in no way had or seen any trouble
  • Convenient to live - there are some nice restaurants, a local sainsbos and a huge Tesco immediately up the road
  • Amazing views of London!
  • Awesome TV signal (Hello Ally Pally!) and Virgin is 120MBps here :confident:
  • awfully quiet place - some people will say it's a bad thing, but I like it.

Bad:

  • Can be pretty pricey
  • No close tube nearby - but a load of buses to tubes (highgate, wood green and finsbury park)

Cricklewood. Not bad. Rail station is alas in zone 3  More expensive travel card. cut-rate rent is chiefly why I live there. Really nothing to do there. Also the local surgery is appallingly bad.

Soon to be ex-Muswell Hiller. There's a lot to like up here, but there too many pensioners and yummy mummies for my liking. I'm fortunate enough to have had stunning views of the city from my living room. To be honest, if I could pay for a larger flat here, I'd stay. I can't, so its bye bye Muswell Hill!

Ach! Sorry to hear that! Yeah, flats are pretty costly here. And the pensioners and yummy mummys I don't mind. Beats having chavs in addition to gangs!

Elephant. Need I say more?
Ugh. That place really is a testimonial to enough and letting things go. It'll get there, one day.

Hackney represent. It's just ace, all the time. i know we get a bit of shove for the Hipsters, but hey, I quite like going to the pub and finding it's turned into a pop-up laser rib shack since last week. Plus the park is lovely, it's very well connected, and there's always something going on each night. I've lived in a number of parts of London but this one feels like home to me.
Hackney is a full borough, can you be more specific.
Exactly, you don't hear people saying I live in Tower Hamlets.

From my perspective only newcomers and hipsters call it Hackney. I'm pretty much on the boarder of London Fields and Dalston. The Hackney I identify is a shit hole, but it's my shit hole. I was a youth worker and worked in the majority areas of Hackney, with gangs, mostly in Dalston.

Yes I have a chip on my shoulder concerning the influx of middle class white people flooding the borough. They've made it more pricey for me to rent here. I don't go to popup whatevers. I don't go to the bars or pubs they've taken over. I don't go to the cafes or overpriced restaurants. All this improvement (gentrification) is not for locals. Yes Hackney is safer than in the 90's/early 00's but its still far from safe. They seem to wander about at all hours and assume it's safe. They've shattered the Hackney I know and love. They're the types to laugh at and despise 'chavs/rudeboys' while at the same time trying to buy into 'street culture'.

I'm going to finish ranting, it's plain what my stance is.

Well, you undoubtedly wouldn't shout about it if you did

Homerton for the reason that it's in Hackney but it's in cycling distance of everywhere and it's not as cool as Shoreditch. It's on it's way though, extremely upsetting.
Moving that way soon, my soon-to-be homie'rton..... Nope, lost it.
Homerton's aces - howdy neighbours!
